It is possible to set up a prison in the camp? I mean bars, padlock and guards watching it day and night.

This would bring us to the question: who will volunteer to guard a prison ? "Guards" would mean at least two per shift. Even with 6 hour shifts within a 25 hour period we would be looking at a minimum of 8 people. Bearing in mind that it is not like gate duty were everyone comes through and thus generates action, but standing around somewere with nobody interacting with them. Unless a prison is made a spart of the gate house it would be more punishing to guard the prison than actually be imprisoned.

At the events where i play the player run prison is part of a 'gate' of sorts. This way the guards guard the gate and the prison.

For the arrival i think we could even make some money. How about a pillory at the gate and one of the guards selling latex vegetables and eggs to anyone entering the camp. This way being a prisoner does not take you out of the game and even generates some action.

Sentences can then be a certain amount of time in the pillory. like 15 minutes for small theft, 30 minutes for a brawl and an hour if you wound someone with a weapon. The severety of the punishment will then hinge on the salescapabilities of the guard. If he can get people to line up with loads of vegies and eggs... well you should have thought of that before you comitted a crime in our camp...

Allan has a point, we have specifically steered away from the usual "camp gate model" in an effort to free people up to try other things than gate guard. I think the prison aspect is a branch of that task. Perhaps if folks want to set something like that up we'd be willing to support it but I don't think the SL will set that up and expect the PC's to support it... if you see the subtle difference. I've run gates before, and they always sound cool in theory but in practice folks often complain of it being too much like work in the hottest, coldest, busiest and quietest periods.

Throwing latex fruit at someone in a pillory however is excellent.
