I've encountered that problem while writing the document. I know how to do it, but it's rather difficult to explain. Clear articulation of the words also helps. I've been given to understand that this is very important during musicals and on stage. It is quite possible that people with experience in stage play and musical singing can also explain how to be loud without screaming or shouting. After all, these people also have to be heard by quite a lot of people.

Another option is to hide some sort of speaker system in the ritual circle.



As you can see on this picture taken on the summoning (the largest dutch event) ritual places can have nice effects already built in. This particular ritual circle has DMX controlled stage lighting in the 5 pillars. Together with smoke generators, a nice sound system, a line of light on the ground indicating if the circle is opened or closed down (can be seen in the picture as the green light on the ground). The pillars themselves are about 1 by 1 meter at the bottom and about 5 meters high. The entire system is controlled by a app on a mobile device and even supports programmed behavior so that the lights can change during the ritual. All the technical equipment is hidden inside the pillars. The lights are located at the very top, which can also be seen. The pillars themselves are very sturdy and stable. You can lean against them, run into them, just about anything really.

Now -that's- what I call a nice stage for a ritual!

I am in the proces of designing and building a ritual place for conquest. It won't be as impressive as this one obviously, but it will be pretty awesome if all goes well.

I'm not a singing-teacher, but quite a good singer.
To use the "chest-voice", you have to kind of relax your throat.

Best way to approach this first is to simply humm. Stand straight an humm tunelessly.
Just "Hhhhmmmmmmmmm.....", be careful not to overdo it, stay relaxed, for if you tighten your
throat you'll notice that your voice becomes higher again. The faster the air streams through your vocal chors, the higher the sound. So don't "compress" the air flow.
You'll notice that your voice get's a bit lower, if you're a "head speaker".

Now add an "aaaahhh" sound to that. Slowly and using a single breath.
Your voice should stay in the same tone as while humming.
If this effect is reached you have found your natural voice tone/level.

Now try and speak from that humming. It doesn't matter what you say, just speak.
Speak slowly and calmly.
If your voice stays the way it sounded while humming you've found your "chest voice".

Practice speaking in this voice. Its just a matter of "adding force" to your voice now.
You'll notice that the "humming" comes from deeper down your chest area than your actual words.
The words are formed by your lips, your tounge and your mouth cavity. So they can be used independetly. Only the sounds basis is produced by the larynx and voice chords.

The three "magic" words are, as always: "Practice, practice, practice!".

If you do this enough, you'll notice that your voice carries better and further.

Oh, there you are, that is a nice instruction to get the desired effect! This was what I was referring too, without knowing the right word for it.

I learned it at a LARP event from another ritualist, who also did not know what it was actually called. We just called it the ritual booming voice.
