Hi,

I've noticed Thievery and Shoplifting they both show a cost of 4EP in their description, but only 2EP in the list and in the German rules. What's the real cost of these skills?

I also wanted to enquire about the spell Detect Effect 1 (Effekt Erkennen) 1. Description says it "helps to examine if an effect is on an object or person". Now as a spell, I was wondering if the type of "effect" we are talking about is a magical one, therefore if this spell works as a basic "Detect Magic" power. So will the wizard be able to see if something or someone has some kind of magical effect (but not the type of effect, etc.)? If not, what kind of "effect" are we talking about?

Concerning the spell "detect effect 1":
The mentioned effect can be magical oder alchemical (i.e. if your object of intrest is effected by "seal", it could have been administred via magic spell or alchemical substance - consider that some effects are exclusivly magical, exclusivly alchemical or can be of either origin). You only sense that sone kind of effect is there, not what kind of effect it is, it's origin or it's magnitude (that would be "detect effect 2" and GM discretion). So yes, is works as a kind of "detec magic" spell, but at a very basic level. To be able to negate the effect, you would need to know if is of magical or alchemical nature and then use the corresponding countermeasure (don't know what they are called in english, but it's either a counterpotion or a dispel magic thingy). Or you could just try one of the two and see if you're lucky.

At least, that's my interpretation of the rules. Of course, I could be wrong.

About Thievery:

Yes, you are correct, that is an error in our Rulework. It was updated to make it more expensive. The actual Cost is 4 Points for Thievery and 4 Points for Shoplifting (where you have to learn Thievery first). We scratched Burglary and Stealing from Persons in the last update as we saw that this is not working out and creates more problems with the "Targets" than expected. And the english one is Version 5.0, we need to retranslate it completely for the update, but right now, 99% of the 5.0 Version are like the 5.1.

About "Detect Effect":

The Spell (for Alchemists: Analysis): "Detect Effect 1" can tell you IF there is something on a Person or an Object. And it might give you a rough clue of what it possibly could be.

"Detect Effect 2" is the "more indepth" Version. It can tell you if there is something and WHAT it is and give you a good idea of how strong it is...

Both spells will NOT tell you if a person is a magican or so. It only gives you information if a spell (or brewery) was put on an object or a person.

As an example: Both abilities will NOT tell you WHAT Gandalf is aside an old bearded man. But with Detect Effect 1 you could tell on Sleeping Beauty in the ThornCastle that she is under a hex (and nothing more). And Detect Effect 2 would tell you that it is a Sleeping Curse and that it is on a powerlevel of over 9000 (as it involves the whole castle).

- You get 1 MP for each EP invested in the "additional magic point"-skill. (In the example, the guy has 9 MP provided by his spells (2+2+4+1) and 2 MP bought with two EPs, equals 11 MP as described.)

- The pieces of armour have to be provided by the caster. Usually you wave them around the body of your target, to "imbue him with the protective effects". If you want to cast a more effective magic armour (and have learned that spell-level), you have to use a more effective piece of armour as magic component.
